POSITION: Executive Director
DEFINITION: Under the direction of the Board of Directors,
the Executive Director is
responsible for all functions of daily operation and
administration of the agency including financial management, personnel recruitment
and supervision, program development, public relations, contract procurement,
implementation and monitoring of agency policies and procedures.
DIRECT
POSITIONS SUPERVISED: All management staff and other designated positions.
A.
OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT
1. The Executive Director shall
report to the Board of Directors monthly
(and as necessary) the development of agency programs and business operations.
2. The Executive Director shall
develop, implement, and monitor a Facility Program Plan including
projected growth development, outreach, and research goals and objectives to
benefit the agency/company.
3. The Executive Director
shall see that all areas comply with the standards accreditation procedures of
CARF(Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitaion Facilities). Each area shall
be brought into compliance in a timely fashion and as personnel resources are
available.
4. The Executive Director
shall manage the leadership team of the organization.
B.
FISCAL
1. The Executive Director
shall be accountable at all times to the board of directors for the financial
status of the organization.
2. The Executive Director
shall develop an annual budget for KAT, for approval by the Board of Directors.
3. The Executive Director will
advise the Board of Directors of special financial needs and, when necessary,
obtain such funds through grant writing and other sources from available
resources with the approval of the board.
4. The Executive Director will
prepare responses toRequests for Proposals (RFP) from government agencies and
also monitor contracts with corporate customers.
C.
ADMINISTRATION
1. As chief administrator of
KAT, the Executive Director may recruit and hire such persons as are necessary
to maintain efficient, organizational funtions.
2. The Executive Director shall
keep the Board of directors informed of the affairs of KAT as required by the
by-laws of the organization.
3. The Executive Director
shall maintain appropriate accounts for supplies, materials, equipment, and
monitor expenditures within approved agency budget.
4. The Executive Director
shall develop and keep current job descriptions and employment performance
records of all agency personnel.

PUBLIC RELATIONS
1. As chief executive agent of
KAT, it shall be the Executive Director’s responsibility to promote a positive professional public image to general
public, local business and industry, other agencies, agency employees, parents,
advocates, and client/workers.
PERFORMANCE
REQUIREMENTS:
1. The Executive Director must have good
knowledge of county, state, and federal requirements, standards, mandates, and guidelines for sheltered
workshops.
2. The Executive Director must posess
knowledge of Rehabilitation intervention and training
techniques.
3. The Executive Director must possess knowledge of marketing,
production methods, and set-up and design for light manufacturing.
4. The Executive Director must have good organizational and communication
skills to promote a positive professional image to the general public.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
The
Executive Director shall possess at a minimum, an AA degree in business,
rehabilitation, social services, special education, or related field plus four
years work experience in a workshop setting (with at least two years being in a supervisor/management
position), It would be desirable for the
individual to have a BA/BS degree in business, rehabilitation, social services,
or related field plus two years work experience in a supervisory/management
position.
